Snuggling with blue bear
This morning after I fed Emmitt breakfast and before I tried putting him to sleep for his nap, he spotted his blue bear in the play area and wanted to hold him. He picked him up and gave him a hug and even snuggled his face into him; so we took blue bear with us into the nursery. After some cuddling, I tried to put the bear into the crib so I could get Emmitt to sleep but he got really upset when I took the bear away. So, I let him have him and had to rock Emmitt to sleep with blue bear in the crook of my arm (Emmitt fell asleep on blue bear's chest). As you can see, when I put Emmitt into the crib, he was still holding onto blue bear.

This past weekend...
Last Thursday we went on our nightly walk and, on a whim, decided to try the swings out in one of our local parks. Emmitt really enjoyed himself so the next night, Friday, we went again and I was sure to catch it (I almost said "on film"...what do you say now?)

On Saturday, Emmitt visited with his girlfriend, Miss Claire. It was adorable to see them together after so long. They're doing and saying a lot of the same things (Claire is 4 days Emmitt's senior).
Finally, this was my attempt to catch all of Emmitt's teeth. He's got, we think, 6 coming in up top! He has just started this new laugh where he scrunches up his face and breathes really quickly out of his nose (and shows his teeth, as you can see).
Emmitt is very close to crawling. So close, in fact, that I would even say he is crawling but that he just doesn't realize it yet. He does all of the right moves but it just hasn't registered with him yet that he can really get places this way. I bet he'll figure it out sometime this week...
Help!!! :)

First trip to the pool & a silly video
Yesterday, Memorial Day, we took Emmitt over to Auntie Krista's place and went swimming! This was Emmitt's very first time in a pool and on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being "dislike" and 5 being "love"), Emmitt would give the pool a 3 (read: "neutral").
As with all things, he likes to take his time in determining what he thinks about something and the pool was no different. He didn't seem to dislike it but he definitely wasn't thrilled with it either. Next time we take him, he might have had enough time to form an opinion one way or another.
I have been wanting to introduce him to swimming ever since he was born and was really excited to finally have the opportunity. To insure that the experience was as enjoyable as possible, I got him a float that he could sit in and that provides shade in the hot sun. While he seemed to prefer to be in the float over having me hold him, he still didn't know quite what to think.

He seemed to like being on the steps most of all because he enjoyed the security of having his feet on the ground even if he was surrounded by water. Above all, he liked standing on one of the tables in the area (on dry land) and holding on to the umbrella poll.

The funniest part was when we were walking back to Krista's apartment and he suddenly got really talkative! (telling us about "da" and "ba"). It was as if he wanted to tell us all about the pool after he had some time to let things sink in.
Finally, we had a grand old time when we got back to Krista's apartment:
