What am I going to do with this boy?

Well, it happened again. I left the nursery door open for a few minutes and this is what I found when I went back in there:

I really can't wait to see how Clyde and Wrigley - who have been our only babies up until this point - are going to react when they realize that all of this new, cool stuff isn't for them but for an actual person.

Wow. Know what I just realized? Baby Hutch is going to be less than
HALF the size of our cats. Whoa...

Not that I believe in this sort of thing...

This Chinese Gender Chart claims to be 90% accurate...yeah...right. Nevertheless, I thought it would be fun to share what it says about Baby Hutch's predicted gender:

A look back (& a congratulations!)

Just for fun I thought I'd post some pictures of Kerry and I when we were little. Many of you have probably already seen these but I was going through some photos I had on our computer and ran across the folder of pictures from our wedding slideshow and figured I'd share.

Annette (Grandmommy) and Baby Kerry (Daddy Hutch)

Amy (Mimi) and Baby Casey (Momma Hutch)

Kerry with his "sissy" - aka Auntie Krista :)

Casey taking a bath (very blue eyes that turned green!)

Kerry on his first day of school.

Casey in her Montessori pose.

I also wanted to say "Congratulations!" to a friend of mine that I've known since 4th grade - Natalie. Her due date was 3 weeks ahead of mine but she had her little boy, Andrew Christopher, super early this morning (more like late last night - 12:59am) We are SO excited for her and her husband, Chuck! Congratulations you guys! :)

Our 4 year anniversary

Last night Kerry and I had our anniversary dinner at the Tides Inn in Irvington, VA - less than 2 miles from where we got married at the Hope & Glory Inn 4 years ago. We had a great dinner out on the patio by the water in weather that was probably at least 15 degrees cooler than it was on our wedding day :)

Here's a photo of our last pre-child anniversary. I was 35 weeks and 4 days pregnant:

Cloth diapers have come a long way!

We're not even parents yet but we already know one thing about the type of parents we're going to be (this information you could probably already gather from the fact that we're planning on having a home birth) - that is, we're going to be very "granola." Granola has I guess become a term that makes some people cringe but in this day and age, Kerry and I are proud to be considered granola (meaning: hippy, 'green,' and maybe even nontraditional although it's becoming more and more so.) One thing we're trying out - and it better work out because they're not cheap! - is cloth diapers. Cloth diapers have come a loooong way. This is probably what many people associate with cloth diapers:

However, since being 'green' is so 'in,' there have been many recent diaper advances. For instance, the diapers that we're stocking up on are by a company called "bum genius. " They're organic, they grow with the baby, they are all-in-one (don't involve a plastic outer layer), etc. I could go on but I'll just include a picture here:

They're around $24 or so a pop and we're going to start off with 20 diapers so yeah, it's pricey but in the long run, it'll definitely pay off! Diapers are expensive anyway so we like to think we're doing ourselves and the earth a favor by going this route. We'll let you know how it all works out :)

P.S. only 34 more days to go!!!

A place for Baby Hutch to dream & Mama Hutch's dreams...

Well, I wanted to wait until the nursery was complete but I just can't...and I think it's close enough, anyway :) We're pretty happy with the way that it has turned out so far. I'll add photos to this post as we add things to the room.

The above is the view from behind where the rocking chair will be (in the corner.)

This is what you see straight ahead when you walk into the room.

This is our rocking chair plus a cool decal that we got to spruce up the white wall.

Kerry and I are pretty excited. Sometimes we walk into the room just to look at it for a couple of minutes at a time. We do actually plan on keeping Baby Hutch by our bed at night for the first few months in a bassinet (see Wrigley breaking it in below) but the nursery will hopefully still be a good place for BH to nap and, when s/he is old enough, to play.

On another note, I have had three dreams now where BH was a little girl and none yet where BH stars as a little boy. I'm still leaning towards believing that s/he is a boy but the dreams are really starting to confuse me! It's really hard to imagine that we'll have our answer in 40 days (give or take.)
